Finished in 2017 No.9

I am very excited to be an Aunt again!  Baby Hazel is due in just over a week and I made this quilt for her back in July.  Hannah wanted a mountain themed nursery and I found a great mountain themed fabric that I turned into a quilt.  This was my first real mono-chrome quilt AND my first attempt at sewing with faux fur.  It was a little messy but so worth it - this is probably the snuggly-est quilt I've ever made.  The faux fur also gave the quilt a very nice drape.  We can't wait for Baby Hazel to get her - any day now!

Made by Allison No. 1

When Allison was in Alaska she and Grammy made a baby quilt for her new cousin, Hazel.  We finished the binding once she got home and then mailed it up for Auntie Hannah's baby shower.  Allison was very proud of her work and I was very thankful for Grammy's patience in helping her!

Allison's Week with Grammy and Grr

Once again Allison spent a week in AK with just her, Grammy & Grr.  She enjoyed getting to for bike rides and horse rides and getting them all to herself for a week.  They saw a porcupine on their ride along the coastal trail.

Grr flew down with Allison to visit a friend and then spent a few days wit us as well.  We introduced him to Benny's donuts - one of our favorite stops.  they had a special edition s'mores donut they toasted with a torch that Allison tried.  She said it was pretty tasty.  I'll stick with cinnamon & sugar.  Grr says the cold-pressed coffee glaze was pretty fabulous, too!

July Snapshots

 July is for berries!
 And washing cars!

This girl has been leaning how to dribble.
Mark tells me this is what helmets are for.
Safety day at her swim lessons!
I have no idea why she did this!
This girl was super excited to try the 'shark week' drink at Dutch Bros.  Luckily they were willing to make a non-energy drink version.  And the put whipped cream on the straw just for her!
Natalie requested cinnamon rolls for her supper club.  I was pretty happy to oblige - and saved some for the girls and I!
This girl has been trying to break free from naps.  It is NOT easy.

Dinner Train 2017

We took advantage of a cooler day in July and had our annual 'dinner train' bike ride to Philomath for a special dinner out with the Wagners.  Heidi was very excited to ride the tag along bike and Allison tried her new bike out for the first time.  Both girls worked hard for their dinner!  Hoping we can squeeze in one more before the rain hits!

Reading Bingo

Allison's teacher sent her into summer break with a 'Reading Bingo' game.  She's been working to complete it - but might get distracted occasionally by friends (or just about anytime she's reading outside!

June Snapshots

Testing a rocket after ballet - in her Team USA leo.
She calls it 'ice cream juice'
Heidi really enjoyed Allison's neighborhood party - Allison was busy playing with friends!

Heidi heard me say we needed to wash the windows - she got her squeegee out and got started!
 Buckling up her buddies!
The girls have enjoyed Mark roasting marshmallows for them after he uses the charcoal grill - we're eating our fair share of s'mores this summer.  And Heidi has decided she does like them with chocolate.  And a crown!

Heidi had a day and a half off school for teacher's inservice.  She LOVED every bit of hanging out with me - especially going to her friend, Gracie's, birthday party - which  included a princess fashion show!
She wanted to send her baby shoes to Baby Hazel!

Someone was making 'paint' with sidewalk chalk!
We've been working on Heidi's bike riding.  Allison and jog along!

Bike rides with Allison on her spiffy new bike.

Writing letters to her new favorite penpal - 'Big Heidi'!
