A Rainbow Birthday

Allison came home from school a few weeks ago and announced that she wanted a rainbow & Hello Kitty themed birthday party.  We had a discussion about how she was going to have a big trip to Colorado right before her birthday, and that was part of her present / celebration so it would be a smaller party.  But I did run with the rainbow theme with our little mostly family party tonight.
Before all the guests arrived Allison talked with most of the family on my side - including a video chat with Grammie and Grr.  Heidi wanted in on teh action, too, of course!
Nana & Papa made our fruit rainbow, with marshmallow clouds, of course!
The kids loved playing tag & shark in the back yard - who needs party games?

We did another pull-string pinata and then afterwards Mark let the kids hit it with a bat - good thing, too there was some stuff left behind (and it was the good stuff - it was mostly filled with fruit snacks but there was some chocolate that went in last, most of which fell out after getting hit by the bat!)

Allison's rainbow cake was amazing, made by our friend Ronda.  It was also HUGE.  With five layers, each a different color.  Allison loved it and it was very, very tasty.  We had so much fun celebrating our new six-year-old - now we're ready for some downtime - and if anyone wants some cake please stop on by!
