Ready for Alaska

A few days ago I found Allison's backpack, packed full of clothes.  I didn't get a chance to unpack it before she came home from pre-school.  When she got home she informed me it was her 'Alaska Bag' which she had packed to go to Alaska.  I couldn't wait to open it up and see what she had packed for Alaska......
So, what does a 3-year-old think she needs for Alaska?  Here is the complete list:
- 1 Warm fuzzy (and sparkly!) sweatshirt
- 2 Long sleeve t-shirts
- 2 Pairs of knit pants
- 2 Pairs of socks
- 2 Pairs of underwear
- 1 Overnight pull-up
- 1 Pair warm fuzzy fleece pajamas
- 2 Hawaiian leis
- 1  Headband
- 1 Bracelet
- 1 Stocking hat
- 1 Drawing of a rainbow
- 1 pack of fruit snacks
- 1 pink box with about 10 kids' flossers in it
- 1 Playmobil sheep
- 1 coin purse with $0.37
I'd say she's good to go for at least one night!  We were actually very impressed with her packing!

Two Weeks

It is hard to believe Heidi is already two weeks old.  She had her two week check-up yesterday and is well above her birth weight, currently averaging a weight gain of 2 ozs a day!  Hence her cheeks are looking fuller and a nice little double chin is developing.  So far she has been a pretty easy baby, she generally sleeps in 3-4 hour stretches except for a bit of awake time in the evenings.  We feel pretty blessed to have such an easy baby that is growing strong.

Tea with Grammy

We kept Allison home from preschool for Grammy's last day in Oregon so we could do something fun.  On our way to the airport we stopped in at a little tea shop in Junction City.  Allison thoroughly enjoyed having 'tea' with Grammy, especially since they served her an entire pot of hot chocolate of her very own.  It was a special treat for all of us and the perfect way to end Grammy's visit.

The Big Sister

I think it is fairly safe to say that Allison loves being  a big sister.  She does get a little stir crazy since we're holed up around the house a bit more, but she doesn't complain.  We've tried to come up with some fun big girl activities for her - like going to the Home Depot Project Day.  She made a Valentine's Card holder and was so very proud of it.
And she's always willing to help me figure out how to set up for pictures!  She has also had more freedom to pick out her own clothing and shoes of late.  I have to say that I love her sense of style!

One Week (Plus Some!)

Heidi is over a week old already.  So far she has settled in to be a fairly content little baby, only crying when there is something amiss (most often a soiled diaper!).  She will fairly regularly go 4 hours between feedings at night.  And we're starting to have some alert time during the day.  She is starting to make eye contact and study our faces when she is awake, it is fun to watch her take it all in.

We've also taken to afternoon walks.  She gets bundled up and looks like she belongs in 'A Christmas Story' but she doesn't seem to mind, she's usually passed out asleep before we even step out the door all snuggled into her Baby Bjorn.  Now if we can just get a bit more January sunshine!

Heidi's First Bath

Heidi finally got her first bath at home.  It was a rather rushed affair on a weeknight with her big sister watching on from the dinner table (where she was waiting until she finished her dinner!).  It is safe to say Heidi did not enjoy her first bath - hopefully it will just get better with time!

All snuggled up at the end in her lambie towel!

Home

We've been home from the hospital now for just over 24 hours with the newest Curtis, Miss Heidi Jean.  We're making the most of every moment, especially with Grammy around to help entertain a certain 3-year-old!

We have 5 girls in the house right now according to Allison...Mommy, Grammy, Allison, Baby Heidi and Allison's Baby.
A doughnut treat for the princess!
Now that I have Heidi in some of Allison's baby clothes she looks so much like Allison!
Sisters!
